St. John’s House, a former Church of England Nunnery and orphanage, provides a Christian presence and a green oasis of peace and calm in the heart of Alum Rock, an urban multi-faith area of East Birmingham. Or at least it was peaceful until, in May this year, when members of MADD descended upon it and turned it into a phrenetic hive of activity. The six of us, Andrew du Boulay, Roger Tiffin, Neil Pearce, Peter Dane, Ron Porter and myself, had been invited by James and Mel Lynch who work with Interserve at St John’s and have been mission partners with Christ Church since they left All Nations in 2007. Our Ware Christians Against Poverty Debt Centre has been working hard in our community here in Ware and beyond. We are amazed and delighted at the response we have had from our community with help to fund and profile the Debt Centre.
We have had the opportunity to run two money tips sessions at the Herts Mind Network. We have built a good relationship with the Salvation Army Foodbank based in Ware and the Hertford Foodbank. Continue reading

Previous experience is not necessary. Including music, colouring, prayer craft and maybe more. All are welcome – not limited by age or talent – but children must be supervised. You can bring your own instruments/tools/ideas and/or join in with organised sessions – take the opportunity to use this space to be together!
