A reflection on “Ware’s Got Talent” – Loose it, don’t lose it!
Let me explain
I didn’t get to see Ware’s Got Talent this year; I fell asleep in my armchair! I was originally thinking of entering the show, but I “bottled” it! I think I was afraid, which is not like me; my usual attitude would be “Go for it!”
Are we like this with the God–given talents we are blessed with? Do we worry what people think? We should be more worried what God thinks about us NOT putting them to use!
Let me use the gift God has given me to encourage you to use the gifts He has given you. When I first realised God had given me the gift of encouragement I was a bit reluctant to use it; was it just my thoughts or was God giving me words to use to encourage others? Then one day He said: “Well sunshine, if you don’t try, how will you know?”; so I went for it! And and I’m glad I did.
I enjoy encouraging people in all aspects, but I think encouraging people to use their God given talents probably tops my “list”.
At Christ Church I have been encouraged to see so many people doing this. We have singers, instrumentalists, preachers, intercessors who use their talents to bless the fellowship and the wider community. However, it is not just those who are “seen” who are using their God-given talents. May I encourage those “behind the scenes” to use the talents they have been given. Man may not necessarily see what you do, but God does! And He is pleased.
My sister often says “I can only do ….” I tell her to forget the word “only”; she CAN do……
You may say “I can’t preach, sing, play an instrument or pray up front in church, I can only do so and so”. It doesn’t matter; remember who gave you that gift! He knows what you can do, and is pleased when you put it into action.
Some people may not be able to do the “big” things like preaching, leading worship, etc., but can make a decent cup of tea. In God’s eyes that is just as important; sometimes that is what is needed. Also being a good listener can be a very good talent to have. Putting whatever talent we have to use is important not only for us, but for others and for the glory of God.
Be encouraged to “Go for it!” and use your God-given talent: Loose it, don’t lose it.
P.S. Should I enter Ware’s Got Talent next year?!Tags: LW+LW, Magazine, Ron
